DANIEL THORNTON has been leading worship since his early teens. His relaxed style and honest transparency reveal a pure enjoyment of worship which is evident as he leads people into God's presence.
"It is my passion and prayer that when I lead worship, people are so powerfully connected to God that all other things come into perspective", he says.
Classically trained and an experienced secular performer, Daniel has performed on Broadway and even appeared before Royalty. With extensive experience also in writing and performing in musicals and composing film and documentary scores, there would be few musicians with such a diverse and eclectic background such as his. He's equally comfortable writing pop music as he is with microtonal exploration, as adept with an orchestra as with a sequencer and loops. His works are easily accessible, yet remain fresh and unique.
A true worshipper, Daniel is constantly coming up with new material.
"I'm never short of new songs! In fact, a new song is almost in my heart daily."
"I've been a worshipper from my youngest days, whether alone in my bedroom or in a large congregation. But there's something unique about corporate worship", he says.
It should come as no surprise, then, that Daniel is sought-after around the world as a worship leader, while serving as Music Pastor at Paradise Community Church. All this, while continuing to compose works for selected concert and film and television productions.
"Writing worship songs for me is a about being able to capture revelation and articulate truth in a way that connects people with God and moves people to action. I love the fact that a good song can get stuck in someone's head, and so it becomes their confession! I can impact someone's theology through a song. I can impact someone's perspective through a song. The weight of that responsibility should be felt by every songwriter.
